As a first generation American with strong Trinidadian heritage, I have always admired the history and traditions of the University of the West Indies, and hoped to have the opportunity to teach at this prestigious institution. My innovative approach to teaching has garnered increased student interest in my courses. In my tenure as a full time lecturer in the Social Work Unit, I have further developed several course outlines including: SOWK 2002, SOWK 2009, SOWK 3012, SOWK 6001, SOWK 6003, SOWK 6004 (e.g., added new content and modified teaching delivery). It has been noted that, the enrollment rate for SOWK 3012 increased from an average of 40 students to 70 to 100 students within the last two years.
